Ferrari World Abu Dhabi: the Speed Record Formula Rossa Just Lost, and the Ticket Markup Nobody Flags

Every reseller ranking for this search still markets Formula Rossa as the world's fastest roller coaster. It lost that record on New Year's Eve 2025, to a coaster in Saudi Arabia. The other thing none of them flag: a single-park ticket is AED 345 direct from the park, and several of the listings selling it charge 10 to 20 percent more for the same admission.

Search “ferrari world abu dhabi tickets” and the results are entirely booking pages: the park’s own site, then a run of resellers (Thrillark, Wondergifts, 1sticket, Headout, AAA) competing on price for the same admission. None of them mention that Formula Rossa, the ride most of these listings lead with, quietly lost the record it was built around a few months before this was written. And buried in the small print of several listings is a service fee that makes the “official”-sounding ticket cost more than booking direct.

Quick answer
Formula Rossa was the world’s fastest roller coaster from November 2010 until 31 December 2025, when Falcons Flight in Saudi Arabia took the record at 250 km/h against Formula Rossa’s 240 km/h. A single-park day ticket is AED 345 (about $94) direct from ferrariworldabudhabi.com; several resellers charge more for the same admission. If you want more than one of Yas Island’s four parks, the cheaper option (1 Day Any 2 Parks, AED 435) locks both visits to the same day; the pricier one (2 Park Ticket, AED 475) gives you 6 days to use it, including revisiting one park twice instead of seeing two.

Formula Rossa isn’t the world’s fastest anymore

Formula Rossa opened on 4 November 2010 and immediately became the fastest roller coaster on the planet, reaching 240 km/h (149 mph) in 4.9 seconds via a hydraulic launch system built to handle Abu Dhabi’s heat and sandstorms. It held that record for just over fifteen years. On 31 December 2025, Falcons Flight opened at Six Flags Qiddiya City in Saudi Arabia and took it, along with the records for tallest and longest roller coaster in the world: it reaches 250 km/h (155 mph), a height of 163 metres, and a track length of 4.25 km, against Formula Rossa’s 52 metres and 2.07 km.

Every one of the nine ranking results for “ferrari world abu dhabi tickets” that mentions Formula Rossa by name still calls it the world’s fastest. That was accurate for fifteen years; it stopped being accurate the day Falcons Flight opened. Formula Rossa remains the second-fastest roller coaster in the world, and the fastest one most visitors to the UAE will ever get near, which is still the actual selling point.

Which ticket to book, and the two “2 Park” options that aren’t the same

Ferrari World sits on Yas Island alongside three other theme parks: Warner Bros. World, SeaWorld Yas Island and Yas Waterworld. The park’s own site sells five ticket tiers, and two of them are easy to confuse with each other.

The AED 40 gap between 1 Day Any 2 Parks and the 2 Park Ticket is the price of flexibility: the cheaper one forces both park visits into a single day, which is a lot of walking and queuing to fit in before closing. The pricier 2 Park Ticket spreads that over up to 6 days and does not require the two visits to be different parks at all, so it also works as a way to do Ferrari World twice, once for the thrill rides and once at a slower pace with kids. None of the multi-park tickets publish a per-park saving on their own pages; the AED figures above are the only ones to compare against buying single-park tickets separately.

Riding Formula Rossa: who can, and what it actually feels like

The height restriction is 140 to 195 cm, enforced for safety rather than comfort. Riders wear safety goggles, since the launch track runs outdoors and exposes the train to airborne sand and dust at full speed, a detail specific to building this ride in a desert rather than the usual theme-park climate. The coaster accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in about two seconds and reaches its 240 km/h top speed in 4.9 seconds, with riders experiencing up to 1.7g during the launch and up to 4.8g over the full course of the 2.07 km track. In January 2024 the ride closed unexpectedly without explanation and stayed shut for eleven months, reopening on 23 December 2024; it has run normally since.

Beyond Formula Rossa: six roller coasters, and the park’s own Italian streets

Ferrari World runs six roller coasters in total. Flying Aces, a wing coaster, holds the world’s tallest non-inverting loop. Mission Ferrari, an indoor dark-ride coaster, is the newest, opened in January 2023. Beyond the coasters, the park is built around two full-scale recreations of Italian streets, Via di Italia and Bell’Italia, lined with Pit Stop cafés and the Ferrari World souvenir shops, plus Galleria Ferrari, an exhibition space tracing the brand’s racing history with classic cars on display. A fine-dining Italian restaurant inside carries Ferrari-inspired décor rather than theme-park food-court seating.

Getting there, and the rest of Yas Island

Ferrari World sits on Yas Island directly next to Yas Marina Circuit, the Formula 1 track, in the same cluster as Warner Bros. World, SeaWorld Yas Island and Yas Waterworld. The free Yas Express shuttle bus connects the island to pickup points across the Emirates and is included with several of the bundled multi-park tickets above, which is worth factoring in if you are visiting without a rental car. For the Abu Dhabi attraction most visitors pair with a theme-park day, the dress-code and heat details for the mosque are covered in the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque guide.

Is Formula Rossa still the world's fastest roller coaster?

No. Formula Rossa held the record from its opening in November 2010 until 31 December 2025, reaching 240 km/h. It was surpassed that day by Falcons Flight at Six Flags Qiddiya City in Saudi Arabia, which reaches 250 km/h and also took the records for tallest and longest roller coaster. Most ticket listings for Ferrari World still describe Formula Rossa as the world's fastest; that claim is now out of date.

How much does a Ferrari World Abu Dhabi ticket cost?

AED 345 (about $94) for a single-park single-day ticket, direct from the park's own site. Several third-party listings that rank for "Ferrari World tickets" charge more for the same admission once their service fee is added.

What is the difference between the 2 Park and 1 Day Any 2 Parks tickets?

They sound identical and are not. 1 Day Any 2 Parks (AED 435) lets you visit two of the four Yas Island parks on the same single day. The 2 Park Ticket (AED 475) costs more but is valid for 6 days from first entry, so the two park visits do not have to happen on the same day, and you can also use it to visit one park twice instead of two different parks.

Is there a height restriction for Formula Rossa?

Yes: riders must be between 140 and 195 cm tall, per Wikipedia's entry on the ride. Formula Rossa also requires safety goggles, since the open-air launch track exposes riders to airborne sand and dust at speed.

Is Ferrari World Abu Dhabi indoors?

Yes, almost entirely. It is the world's first Ferrari-themed park and one of the largest indoor theme parks anywhere, which is also why its outdoor launch track for Formula Rossa needs a dedicated cooling and dust-protection system built for Abu Dhabi's climate.

How do I get to Ferrari World Abu Dhabi from Dubai?

It sits on Yas Island, next to Yas Marina Circuit, roughly the same drive as the other Abu Dhabi attractions on this site. The free Yas Express shuttle connects Yas Island to pickup points across the Emirates, and several bundled multi-park tickets include it.

Spent a trip through the Gulf from 7 to 17 December 2023: Bahrain on the 11th, Dubai and Abu Dhabi over the 13th, 15th and 16th, Doha on the 17th. One trip through the Gulf, not four separate ones, which is the whole reason this site exists instead of a single-city blog. One trip three years ago does not make anyone an expert on a region, which is why every price, floor number and opening time here is checked against the operator's own site before it goes on a page, not remembered from the trip.

Verified: The Formula Rossa speed record and the date it changed hands, from Wikipedia's Formula Rossa and Falcons Flight entries, which cite each other and independent news and industry sources; cross-checked between both pages rather than taken from one alone. Formula Rossa's height restriction, acceleration figures and 2024 closure and reopening, same source. The five official ticket tiers and their AED prices, and the Yas Island multi-park structure (6-day validity, repeat-park visits allowed), from ferrariworldabudhabi.com's own tickets pages, checked 8 October 2026. Reseller prices for comparison, from live Viator listings for the same admission, checked the same day. Ride count, park size, ownership and the World Travel Awards recognition, from Wikipedia's Ferrari World entry.

Not verified: We have not personally ridden Formula Rossa or visited Ferrari World to confirm current queue times or whether every ride listed is running on a given day; the park's own site notes some attractions close periodically for maintenance without a public schedule. Whether every third-party reseller ranking for this search still markets Formula Rossa as the world's fastest was checked only against the listings in the live top 10 on 8 October 2026, not the entire market.
